insightsoftware continues to focus our efforts on providing the greatest value in our product investment. As part of this effort, we began an initiative in 2020 to deprecate certain features that were legacy in nature and could be replaced with newer components that offered greater functionality and improved user experience.

The following components are deprecated as part of the current release:

  • Longview Legacy Non-HTML5 Dashboard: Deprecated as of version 25.2 now that cards on the HTML5 Longview dashboard can be manually or automatically refreshed.

  • Third-party authentication: Deprecated as of version 25.3 as Longview now supports the Longview SSO service, which provides a more industry-standard approach to Single Sign-On authentication.

The following supported platforms are deprecated:

  • Windows Server 2019 End of Support: Longview does not support Windows Server 2019. The last version of Longview that supports Windows Server 2019 is 26.1.

LV-14481

Longview now supports the submission of UTF-8 characters for string data across the platform.

LV-14681

New Longview installations now default to a minimum password length of 12 characters, enhancing security without requiring manual configuration.

Longview Designer

Enhancement Description
LV-14424

Longview Designer now supports the full range of document types when creating Events and Calculated Journal Entry (JE) Events, eliminating previous restrictions that required implementers to use workarounds. This enhancement brings Events to feature parity with free-form applications in terms of available document types.

LV-14425

Longview Designer now supports Pre-Selection, Post-Selection, and Post-Refresh code execution for Event Triggers and Attribute-Based Report templates, providing implementers with the same powerful customization capabilities previously available only in Data View Input (DVI) applications.

Longview Platform

Enhancement Description
LV-14437

Longview now validates the integrity of third-party resources to ensure external content has not been tampered with, enhancing security for cloud-hosted installations.

Longview Server Manager

Enhancement Description
LV-14088

Cloud-hosted customers can now create and manage scheduled Longview Application Framework automations directly in Longview Server Manager, with support for daily, recurring interval (minutes/hours), weekly, and monthly schedules. Administrators can also view and delete the scheduled tasks run time log in the Server Manager Log files page under the Scheduled task tab.

LV-14422

The environment name is now included in the Server Manager breadcrumb link, providing administrators with persistent visibility of the current environment when working with multiple Longview instances.

Longview Solutions Framework

Enhancement Description
LV-14376

Data View Input (DVI) applications now support custom Submit button logic, allowing tax administrators to tailor the submit behavior to meet specific business requirements. Previously, all DVI apps used standard submit functionality with no ability to customize the submission process.

LV-14377

Data View Input (DVI) applications now offer the option to open in read-only mode when the data area is currently locked by another user. Previously, when a user attempted to open an input application that was locked, they were blocked from accessing the app entirely. This enhancement allows users to view and review data even when editing is not available.

Longview Tax

Enhancement Description
LV-14315

The rollover validation screen now includes a link to launch Workflow Designer, providing administrators with an additional option to resolve workflow lock issues before completing the rollover. This link appears only when workflow is enabled.

LV-14319

The Manage Interest Expense Limitation Automations app has been updated to remove the upfront account selection step, allowing tax administrators to view and manage all automation settings at once without needing to reopen the app for each account.

Longview Tax – Country by Country Reporting

Enhancement Description
LV-13646

Country by Country Reporting (CbCR) now supports multi-currency data entry and translation, enabling organizations with geographically diverse operations to prepare functional currency numbers and have them automatically translated to group reporting currency.

LV-14436

Output encoding vulnerabilities have been addressed to enhance the security of Longview.

Longview Platform

Issue Description
LV-14372

Longview experienced integration issues with Longview Analytics for organizations using SSO.

Longview Report Viewer

Issue Description
LV-14454

Longview Report Viewer was not honoring all formatting options, including column heading displays and row indentation.

Longview Smart Client

Issue Description
LV-14227

When ApplyUserPreferences was set to FALSE, saved data table layouts were not available when the app reopened.

Longview Tax

Issue Description
LV-13809

The Tax Account Rollforward (TARF) calculation in IAS systems now runs successfully on a new out-of-the-box install without requiring any manual intervention.

LV-14329

The EIFEL (Canadian Interest Expense Limitation Rules) input application now correctly references the IEL.T element in its calculation model. Previously, several calculation references incorrectly used IEL.A instead of IEL.T, which could result in calculation inaccuracies or unexpected results when processing Canadian interest expense limitation data.

Longview Tax – Pillar Two

Issue Description
LV-14365

Excess Negative Tax calculations now correctly respect safe harbour elections, ensuring that no additional top-up tax is calculated for jurisdictions that qualify for and have elected safe harbour provisions. Previously, when a jurisdiction had elected any safe harbour option the system incorrectly calculated Excess Negative Tax and applied it as additional top-up tax in the period.

Hardware and Software Requirements

This chapter contains information on these main topics:

Note: Third party components and versions, such as operating systems, browsers, etc., no longer in support by the third-party provider are not supported by Longview as well.

Supported Server Platforms

Supported platforms are defined as the Operating System and RDBMS "families", and minimum patch/point level on which the application is supported under the terms of the Customer's maintenance Services Agreement. Assistance with issue investigation and resolution is available through Support Services. Any platform related software issues identified will be addressed based on Longview's standard issue prioritization criteria.

Longview reserves the right to end support for supported platforms with subsequent releases of the application.

Should a customer choose to use current versions of Longview software on non-supported platforms, Longview will continue to provide the application support under the terms of the Maintenance Services Agreement with the following exceptions:

  • Issues encountered which cannot be replicated on a currently supported platform will not be addressed.
  • For issues that exist on both supported and non-supported platforms, fixes will be verified only on supported platforms and may or may not address the issue on the non-supported platform.
  • No support is available for platforms (OS or RDBMS) that are no longer supported by their respective vendors.

This section contains information on supported platforms for the following items:
